Perkier is a British gut friendly snack bar company, founded by Ann Perkins and Steve Turner in 2015. Inspired by Ann’s health-driven gluten and dairy free diet, they both left their corporate jobs to create and develop a brand that was healthy, tasty, nutritious and ethical.

They started by making Perkier bars in their home kitchen. They still do this process today, all recipes are developed in house, and the products are handmade in small batches.

Perkier UK’s first probiotic snack bars

Each bar contains two precision strains of probiotics, Bifidobacteria Longum and Lactobacillus Rhamnosus which are proven in clinical trials to improve digestive health and support your immune system. Perkier stands up for ethical production and sustainability, ahead of profits. It’s one of the few snack bar brands to be palm oil free and has a partnership with International Animal Rescue, to save and rehabilitate Orangutans in Borneo.

If I’m honest I had never heard of this brand before, until last week and now I’m excited to try more of their flavours. I wasn’t expecting them to taste good, as I’ve tried healthy snack bars before and they have been rather bland. However Perkier is on another level and has produced healthy snacks to enjoy and feel good about. We had the pleasure of trying their new flavours Blueberry & Dark Chocolate and Madagascan Vanilla with Dark Chocolate.

I tried the Blueberry & Dark Chocolate bar first, a subtle blueberry scent, the flavour of this bar wasn’t overpowering and had a nice savoury taste which my partner loved! This bar combines the juices of the blueberries and nuts, and is bound with chicory fibre which is dipped in real dark chocolate.

The Madagascan Vanilla with Dark Chocolate, was my favourite out of the two and much sweeter taste in flavour, It had a light crispy bite and the nuts made the bar even more moreish. This bar combines creamy, mellow notes of vanilla and nuts, bound with chicory fibre, with a rich and velvety dark chocolate base.

Perkier Active Cultures bars are perfect as a daily treat at the desk working from home, on-the-move, in packed lunchboxes, or to have when your snack cravings kick in! 

I will definitely be buying their Vanilla bar in the future, highly recommend! All their bars are gluten free and plant based so everyone can enjoy it!
