Vanilla Black Coffee and Books

Vanilla Black Coffee and Books, Kennington London

Vanilla Black Coffee and Books, also known as VB located on Kennington road. This is walking distance from the Kennington tube station and from Oval tube station. It is also easily accessible by bus 3, 59, 159, N3, and N109 which drops you outside the cafe.

This is one of my favourite local coffee shops so far, which I have been going to since moving to London. The staff are always friendly and welcoming with all their customers, the interior is bright and airy with a contemporary style. Bookcases along the walls, filled with homeware, gifts and books to buy. VB has a relaxed atmosphere, and can get very busy during the weekends. I come here often to catch up with friends or to do some work, as they provide wifi. They also have a seating area outside in the courtyard, for sunny days and a beautiful homely seating area downstairs.

Today I spent hours with my bestfriend enjoying each others company, for our regular smashed avocado on toast. I added poached egg and feta cheese as an extra topping, my friend had the original dish. They provide various vegan and gluten free options, from savoury to sweet. I also chose their recommended chocolate brownie, which I was not disappointed. After I took a bite into the chocolate it just melted in my mouth, which reminded me of chocolate ganache. My friend picked their vegan carrot cake, a smooth creamy topping with a walnut for decoration. She was also impressed by how light and fluffy the sponge was, it went down a treat.

To wash our desserts down we ordered hot drinks – my friend went for their flat white with oat milk and I tried their cinnamon and spiced hot chocolate. Let me tell you, I now have a favourite hot chocolate – the cinnamon flavour hints you first, following through with a kick and the silky chocolate just slides down your mouth.

There is a lot more food options that I have not yet tried, so I will be going back as often as I can. I highly recommend this cafe, Vanilla Black Coffee and Books truly makes a worth while visit.
